Program Error

I cannot open files in Photoshop CS. I get the message, "Could not complete your request because of a program error." I have used CS for several months before this happened with no problems.
I now have updated my BIOS, checked my RAM, checked Device Manager, uninstalled and then reinstalled Photoshop CS.
Any suggestions for what else to try? I use Windows XP Pro. Many Thanks, Robert D Vance

Robert,

But have you tried deleting your preferences? – They will not be deleted by an un-install/ re-install
