Kris,
Most softwares are limited to 48×96" or 48×108" (no matter how big the printer can actually go) That is one reason why the RIPs that come with most wide format printers allow you to manipulate the file further downstream in the workflow.
You may want to try Posterworks, it’s a software that’s made for large format printing. Just import your image and print.
Kris,
I have the same issue with my 7600.
Adobe blames Epson, Epson blames Adobe, we get the shaft. Here’s the rub…..
Epson drivers have an issue with Photoshop. (fact)
Even though Epson says you get 590" in Win 2000 and XP, you only get 90.5 inches when using Photoshop.
There is a workaround when using InDesign 2 and Illustrator 10. Uncheck "use advanced settings" in the Advanced tab of the Epson Driver. This will let you print longer than the 90.5" limit in those programs (but, alas, still not in Photoshop)
Good luck.
Glenn – no, Epson drivers have a limit (and nobody has gotten more than about 90 inches using Epson drivers).
This has nothing to do with Photoshop.
Chris.
Epson drivers have a limit IN PHOTOSHOP. They print beyond 90 inches in other programs (even other Adobe programs) so it has something to do with Photoshop.
Glenn – you can argue all you like, but I’m telling you the facts — not an opinion or a guess, but the facts.
Glenn
Even if the Epson driver limit only happens with PS, you have to deal with them to fix it. Adobe does not write the third party drivers. Their programmers (and Chris Cox is part of the team) can only deal with Adobe’s own code. It is the responsibility of the printer manufacturer to make their printers read the Adobe code.
I’m not blaming anyone.
Just pointing out that the Epson drivers don’t print files over 90.5 inches with PS. Lots of programs have issues/conflicts with other programs.
This size limit, however, does not exist in all programs, so there is SOMETHING in Photoshop or NOT in Photoshop that causes Epson drivers to not work.
So maybe the problem isn’t with photoshops code, but with Epson’s code, or windows, or a conflict with some old software hiding in the dark recesses of the hard drive, but if the printer prints large files in one program and not another program, I stand by my statement that "Epson drivers have an issue with Photoshop".
I don’t know how Chris can say "This has nothing to do with Photoshop" when the whole point is that Epson won’t print large files IN PHOTOSHOP
I can’t speak for Chris but it seems whenever he says that an issue has nothing to to with Photoshop, he usually means that there’s nothing that the Adobe engineers can do to fix it. The problem lies with the other application, driver or hardware and needs to be addressed by the other manufacturer.
