Hi
Can anyone recommend good software to use for creating web graphics… in particular:

– Glows
– Slicing up images (for use in tables)
– any other styling of graphics….

Are there any other useful packages, other than Photoshop?

Thanks

Paul

Photoshop already offers a lot in the areas you mention, particularly for slicing and providing effects. My guess is there is functionality there that you have not yet tried. The basic procedure is to stay in Photoshop to do your slices, create extra layers with the glow effects, etc, and turn them on and off as apropriate while saving for web. The result is a selection of images that you can then assign behaviors to in a program like Dreamweaver or FrontPage.

After that, for animation, and more detailed integration of behavior and effects I would recommend Fireworks. ImageReady, although it comes with the later versions of Photoshop, is inferior to Fireworks.
