In PS 6 under Win 2000, is it possible to view the EXIF data of a photo taken with a Sony 717?

No. You need Photoshop 7. Earlier versions doesn’t understand EXIF data.

It never ends, does it?

Hmm, maybe it doesn’t. Different people have different needs and Photoshop can’t fulfil them all but most of them, and it’s getting better and better for every new version IMO. 🙂

I believe ps6 did indeed handle exif data. It’s just there were some problems with the resolution tag. I could be wrong, but I know you can view info on a file opened in 6 and get a bunch of info…

But not EXIF info, as far as I know. I can’t open an image from my digital camera (an old Nikon Coolpix 950) in Photoshop 6 and see things as exposure time, shutter speed, whether the flash was fired or not, and so forth.
