effects on layers

For some reason, i cant use layer effects on one of my photoshop files, yet i can on all other files. Please help me solve this issue.

Detail the problematic file’s layer structure.

Is that file in 8-bit RGB mode?

What, specifically, are you trying to do?

What have you tried or considered so far to solve your problem?

Can you intentionally create a new file that displays the same problematic characteristics? If yes, explain, step-by-tiny-step, how to do it, so we can try to replicate the problem.

running in 8-bit RGB mode, 14 layers, trying to add layer effects to a skin for gaming purposes. I’ve tried it on all layers, none are working. When checking the preview box while in layer effects, it wont show up on the document, but when unchecking the preview box while in layer effects, it will show up, but if i click ok or cancel, it just goes back to the normal image w/out layer effects. And no, i can not intentionally create a new file with the same problem. When creating a new file, the layer effects work fine. On all other documents, i can use layer effects, except on the one i’m working on

What effect are you trying to create? and do you have anything selected (by accident) that might by causing this problem?

trying to create bevel and emboss, dont want to use filters. Dont know of anything that is selected that might be causing the problem
