Hardware
• Intel Server Board SE7505VB2 (Latest BIOS, Latest Firmware, Latest Drivers) • Dual Intel Xeon 3.06Ghz with 512 Kb Cache
• 8 Gb ECC DDR 266 SDRAM
• Two HDD 120 Gb Serial With Raid 0
• Matrox AGP Pro. 128Mb
• IEEE 1394

Software
• Microsoft Windows XP pro w/SP1
• Adobe Photoshop CS

Problem
Everything works OK, but:
• The bios give 8 Gb RAM on Booting and in the Setup
• Windows give 3.5 Gb RAM (I know that Windows XP supports up to 4GB) • Adobe Photoshop CS give 1777 Mb RAM

more specifically, windows apps cannot use more than 2 gig of ram. xp provides a /3gig startup switch (unsupported) that allows win to allocate up to 3 gig per application, but the app needs to be able to address that memeory for it to be useful. photoshop does not address over 2 gig even with the switch enabled.

After installing PhotoShop I had the message that Window’s and Adobe primary scratch file are in the same volume which can reduce performance.
It adviced me to move Adobe’s primary scratch volume to a different volume. Can someone please tell me how I can accomplish this task?. Any advice will be appreciated.

That message is ADVISORY only.

If you have more than one drive, select your drive for the PS scratch from Edit>Preferences>Plugins and Scratch disk
