Blue shifts to violet

I am using 6.0 with Windows98, and have encountered this problem just recently. When creating an image and using any shade of blue, be it for color fill or text, the finished file, as seen in other applications, shows that color is now violet. I have saved the image as both JPG and BMP but there is no difference. It still appears blue when opened in Photoshop, but if I try to embed it in an E-Mail, or upload it to a website, the blue appears as violet. And this only happens with the blue spectrum. Plus, this is only a recent problem. I am still using the same computer and monitor as I have for over a year. Monitor is an NEC MultiSync 5FGp.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What colour mode is your image in?

Are you using colour managment? (if yes, the "problem" may be that other apps are not colour managed)
