Hi,

Potoshop 7 / CS:

can anybody tell me how to crop an image with the cropping tool using a "fixed ratio" but "without resizing" the Picture?

For example: I want to crop a picture at the ration 2:3 with the original resolution. Photoshop should not resize and recalculate the Image but just crop.

Shure, I could use the marquee tool for cropping but you cannot adjust the perspective (ok recalculation is needed) and you cannot fix the ankle with it.

Thank you for any help
Edgar

The Marquee tool is the best tool. Set tool properties to "constrained" and pick your aspect ratio. Then drag the rectangle to capture what you want. Then Edit >Crop. The pixel dimensions will change. If you want to retain the original pixel dimension, you will have to "resize" upward. There is no other way to do it. You can automate the process with an action.

David thank you for your reply. Yes, but you cannot rotate the selection in order to correct the angle and you cannot fix the perpective with the marquee-tool. This is very useful when cropping. I like the cropping tool, you can operate very fast but I wonder why such a simple and obvious feature like a fix ratio w/o resizing is not (yet?) implemented.

Edgar

Use the Ruler then Image>Rotate>Arbitrary to straighten. Marquee at Fixed Size then Image>Crop to get what you want.
