I have a folder with three .psd files and one jpeg. Bridge displays thumbnails for all but one .psd file. When the thumbnail is clicked on the image is previewed except for the one image which is displayed in the thumbnail list as a .psd icon. The three .psd files are of the one image but with different kinds of sharpening. This has happened elsewhere in other folders with .psd files

I tried opening the file in photoshop and saving. this has fized the Bridge problem which indicates a CS2 .psd is not upwardly compatible with a CS3 one? Has anyone any ideas?

Maybe (seems unlikely, but…) Bridge needs the psd files to be saved with the "Maximize PSD and PSB file compatibility" option on.

Go to Preferences – File Handling, choose Image Previews and set it to ‘always save’,
which is the default setting in CS3.
Maybe in CS2 it was set differently?

I have done some more testts

1. In both CS2 and CS3 maximise compatibility psd and psb set to always
2. In both CS2 and CS3 Image previews set to Always Save
3 CS2 and CS3 can open file and in open show thumbnail
4. Neither CS2 or CS3 Bridge will show thumbnail pr preview
5. In both CS2 and CS3 Bridge you cxan open file by double clicking on the
file Icon

Anyone with any ideas or have seen this?

Your cachefile might be damaged.
Go to Edit > Preferences > Cache and click Purge Cache. This will delete your cachefile, which will be rebuild when you re-open a folder.
If that doesn’t work I’m afraid the only other option is to re

I have solved the problem – In Bridge Preferences I had set Don’t process files greater than 400Mb and the files I had the problem with were greater. I changed the figure to 800Mb and purged the cache to rebuild the thumbnails and previews came good.

Many thanks for the suggestions.
