Hi!

I’m not really new to photoshop, but I’ve mostly just used it to compose simple images, altering with the help of filters, or chopping up images for websites. So some basic knowledge exists, but it’s only that. Basic.

My interest for graphics has always been quite high, but lack of time has always been it’s enemy since I’ve been limited to excercising my "hobby" at the office.

Now that I’m about to purchase a computer that has sufficient resources to be able to do something serious with, I figured I could study further how to use the tools I have.

What I’m really looking for is tutorials to shove me in the right direction. For instance masks and paths are hebrew to me. If you have any good links or advice, please post.

Thanks.

Here’s one I found recently that I think is excellent. You’ll probably have to go to a major bookstore to find it but look for a copy of "total Digital Photography" from the UK and on the latest issue it will have a CD attached. The CD has 8 or 9 tutorials and some other goodies that were worth the $9 USD alone. The magazine also has some more tips and excellent articles that cover what you’re looking for.

Google.com>Search>Photoshop tutorials. This will yield thousands of links.

Plus, search Photoshop on Amazon.com . When you find something you want, locate the 3rd party sellers’ ("New and Used") link below the title. The discounts available on most of these books is phenomenal. Especially if you are not using the very latest software and consequently looking for something published a couple of years ago. Some of these $50+ books go for literally pennies. I’ve bought many of the top name titles for two to four dollars. Some for much less. And I have never had a problem with any of these sellers. Example: I recently purchased "H.O.T for PS 6" for $2.82. It lists for $49.95.

Good luck!
Steve

Thanks for these, I’ll be sure to check out my local bookstore. (No amazon for when I have no credit card :\)

As for google, the problem is that it returns thousand of tutorials. Wading through all the results and trying to determine which are worth your while is a burden. But I guess that’s the way I gotta go…

Have you explored the manual?
There is a lot of good info in it and it is probably even written in English.
