Simple question I guess – feel I am proficient with PS7 to a certain extent anyway…… but what would be the BIG benefits of shelling out my cash for this, given that mine is rapidly becoming way out of date

Thanks

Steve

While I cannot comment on cash going outta date, PS7 will be okay for a long time. CS has much better image browser, color matching function between images (you can fit tonality of several images to each other), better RAW-importer and you can do more in 16-bit mode.

If you need InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat there is pretty good upgrade offer to Photoshop owners. -F

I’d agree with Fixx

If you don’t know about upgrading well (logically you don’t know about upgrading)

My own tactic will be to do every 2nd upgrade coz I am a hamateur 🙂

On the other hand – you may need the interactivity and currency PSCS has with Illy, Indy, Golly or Imry (sorry about the Imry bit – note to Adobe marketing: get it together please on the ys’s Ta! Imy?)

I only ever do alternate upgrades normally. The first time I went from version to version was 7 to CS because they were offering such a good deal if you bought the suite.

It’s also a good idea never to upgrade until they’ve done at least one point release (as in vX.1 or whatever, where X is the version number). There are always bugs and I prefer to let other people who like to live on the bleeding edge to find them for me 😉

I think you answered your own question but I would make one caution though perhaps its a low likelihood. Interchangeability. Have you ever had a jgp or some other standard image format saved in one application then had a problem bringing it in to another? It’s standard format. WTF’s the problem?? Its not like there’s any proprietary code being stuck in your image file now is there?

Well perhaps not, but would I highly recommend some serious testing before committing that kind of money.

Oops. I read that as PaintShop 7. Sorry if I had that wrong.

lol

:")

I do have that problem – through fatigue usually, when I create in CMYK and my clients can’t open the files because they only see in RGB
