I am building a new computer and am using the following components. I am not sure about the graphics card. I will only be doing 2D work with Photoshop and only light gaming. I am listing the card that was suggested to me, but I am not sure it is "good enough".
Suggestions, anyone?
Motherboard: Asus P5B
Processor Intel dual core 6700
Ram: 4 GB
Graphics card: ASUS EN 8500 GTS 512 ram
2 WD hard drives
2 Liteon Lightscribe DVD writers
etc.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Rosanne

Check the chip set and see if it will take the Quad processor and that will tell you how current the MB is. I use the Gigabyte MB with intel chipsets P35 series.P35-DS4

Processor Intel dual core 6700

Intel have released another set of CPU’s which are cheaper and faster like the E6750, E6850 plus the quad series Q6600. The price of these have dropped another $100 over the E6600. Here the 6750 is $237 and the 6850 is $338 the Quad6600 is $329 (maybe worth a quad.)

Ram: 4 GB

Again price V’s speed DDR2 800 or better. (about $60/1Gb) and make sure its motherboard compatible.

Graphics card: ASUS EN 8500 GTS 512 ram

I have more success with NVidia chipsets just check, think this does have it. Does this card have dual digital outputs for 2 screens?

2 WD hard drives
2 Liteon Lightscribe DVD writers
etc.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

One other suggestion, if you are planning to run Vista now or sometime in the future, you will need a video card with more oomph than you might for 2D work under XP. The Vista GUI requires some power.
