Is there some clever way that I have missed out on to allow me to cut and paste 4 images on one 8×10 page for printing?

Hmm this seems to be almost too easy…

Make up a new page 8×10 from file->new, and chose your resolution (say 250 dpi).

Open your pictures, resize to the same dpi as above (image->image size), do your corrections; (you may think about resizing at this point or later) and then

^ (Ctrl) A
^C
click onto your 8×10
^P
v
Move the picture to the desired position
Alt t (apple t on the mac)
Grab a corner and adjust size to fit. (You can also rotate with this tool) <Enter> (important)

Repeat for the other pictures

Save

Simple! 🙂

If I have read the intent of your question that should be it (without opening PS, I think I have remembered all the steps – there is a bit of muscle memory involved here – I do this heaps!)

You can also just drag and drop the desired files into the new empty 8 by 10 file. Guides might be a good idea for lining them up.

Peadge 🙂

You could just go into the file browser, select the pictures you want to use, then go to automate, contact sheet 2 and set the options for how many images are on the page and whether its landscape or horizontal, if you want it quick and basic.
