Have been using photoshop for years, but I’m never sure the methods I use are the best way to do things.
Are there textbook or courses teaching photoshop that would give a broad coverage of photoshop usage?
Classroom in a Book is a classic text, and I’d check with your local University and Jr. Colleges for courses.
Where are you located?
In seattle.
BTW, just to clarify. By broad coverage I mean one should understand at least 90% of all functions in photoshop and also know when such function is best used. Right now I use less than 1/4 of the features in photoshop. Although I can so far do everything I needed to do, I’m sure certains things can be done much faster or better if I know all the tools.
I would think that a comprehensive course would take several text books, from low level (knowing each functions) to high level (object removal, color matching, creating fakes, etc). I imagine it would take years of study and practice to become a well rounded expert.
I’d agree with that! PS has so many ways to do things that even recognized experts sometimes differ widely on going about a task.
Some things, such as cloning, can be done by a rank amateur, and results will be anywhere from excellent to lousy. Selection in CS3 is so different from CS1 that it’s almost like a different tool, but to really lift an object from one image and blend it right into another takes a lot of skill, some artistry perhaps, and a good eye.
I’d suggest Classroom in a book as a decent starting place- I have a copy for CS 1 I’d let you have, and I will be in Seattle Saturday, as I am sailing the inside passage on Sunday. So let me know so I can throw it in the car; leaving tomorrow morning from SF.
