I’m trying to use the web gallery and everything seems to be fine. EXCEPT that the Description is not showing up in my html file. I added a description to the metadata of most of my photos. But none of them show up when I create a gallery. Any idea why that is? I’ve talked to other people and it doesn’t seem to work for them either.

I’ve been doing this with my site using the Horiz. Slide show web gallery.

Seems to work. Check your input.

PhotoShop IPTC-meta data; Document Title is Title in Web gallery. PhotoShop IPTC-meta data; Description is Description in Web gallery. PhotoShop IPTC-meta data; Credit is Credits in Web gallery. PhotoShop IPTC-meta data; Copyright is Copyright in Web gallery.

Funny that you should post that gallery.
I haven’t been in a few years, but I used to go to the Glen for the vintage weekend every year 🙂

I will check my metadata when I get home.

I must be doing something wrong, if I try to generate the page with a couple pics from your site it still doesn’t work, but I can see the metadata for those pics too.

Is there a setting in the Photo Gallery?

Steve and Danno – Did you ever visit the actual Watkins Glen?

Take a look here

to see what you missed (you had to be there on the right day).

I haven’t, but I see next time I’m there I will have to. Is that near the track?

ok new problem.

I finally got it to display a description. Except its all gibberish, pretty bizzare and frustrating.

Danno

I don’t know why you are getting them, but those (the ones starting with &#) are HTML entity codes for unusual, non alphabetic characters. You might get them if your captions were typed in Cyrillic, for instance (I don’t have a source handy to know which codepage those entities are from).

Hope that helps you, or someone else, narrow down your program.

Danno – "I haven’t, but I see next time I’m there I will have to. Is that near the track?"

The entrance to the Glen is actually in the heart of downtown Watkins Glen.

My transmission locked up 2 years ago at the track (Porsche Club), so I had an unexpected Sunday to visit the Glen and it was really beautiful. Well worth the time and energy.

OK, how’s this?

Go to www.abc-digital-art.com and you can see how to manipulate the galleries to include any data you want on the page.

Very easy to do and gives you freedom of content.

(Most are straight slide to jpg, except "Fun" link – all Photoshop.)

On-Topic enough? 🙂

thanks everyone for your help, I’ve resolve the problem. I noticed that some of the crazy characters contained some crazy information. Like bits of my computer name, descriptions from other pictures and weird things like that. so I uninstalled, deleted all my settings and reinstalled. Seems to work fine now, thanks all.

I’ll let you know when I visit the glen next.
