upgrade CS2 to CS3 on different laptop

I plan to get a new laptop running Vista and upgrade to Cs3, I now have CS2 installed on my PC running WindowsXP Professional. Can I install CS3 to the laptop by just entering my Cs2 serial number and then downloading CS3 from the CD?

Last time I did this (CS to CS2 I think) I telephoned Adobe and they told me how to do it – I forget the details but you can upgrade to a machine without an existing version.
