Hi, I was playing with this tool earlier and kinda leaning my way and later tonight when I open a file, create new adjustment layer for levels, adjust the levels, the eraser tool will not erase away the adjustment layer. If I use the clone tool it seems to erase the layer but when I release the mouse button it reverts.

This probably is not enough to go on but please tell me what I’ve done wrong if anything of this makes sense.. It’s like I need to reset the tool or something. I’ve tried change the opacity but I can’t figure it out.

Thanks!

Hi,
It may be that you are erasing on the mask associated with the adjustment layer. Make sure that you have the correct layer that you want to do the erasing on. Btw, I rarely use the eraser tool. There are often better ways to remove unwanted detail.

Good luck,
Post back if this does not help.

What exactly do you mean by "erase away the Adjustment Layer?" You can paint on the Mask with black or white if you wish, but there is no image data on an Adjustment Layer, thus nothing to erase.

The eraser tool erases to whatever the background color is. If the background color is white, the eraser tool adds to, not erases from, an adjustment layer.

It is also possible you have set a strange mode or a low opacity on the tool. Look at the Options bar and make sure you have the tool set to Normal, 100% Opacity.
