Hi, folks

I’m not a professional Photoshop user, but I’ll be using the services of one soon, and I have some decisions to make. If my question is off-topic or covered somewhere else, I apologize and ask to be redirected.

My question is: can I open a Mac Photoshop file using the PC version of Photoshop? Put another way: are Photoshop files platform-independent?

Thanks,

Ernie Bornheimer

Yes, and yes. However, for your convenience on the PC it will be helpful if the creator of the file includes the appropriate file extension with the filename. The Mac doesn’t need the .PSD extension but the PC won’t recognize what file type it is without the extension. Of course, if you know, you can add the extensions yourself.
