I’m trying to set my OS to always open jpegs and tifs with PS CS when I double click.

I’m right clicking a jpeg file and selecting "Open with". XP then lists a number of programs, but not CS. Then I choose browse, find Photoshop.exe in the Adobe folder on my hard drive and select it. But XP just ignores my selection and defaults to Microsoft Photo Editor (a most inferior product).

CS opens native .psd files automatically – curiouser and curiouser…

Any ideas?

You’ll need to set the options in Windows Explorer. Under tools>folder options>file type, scroll down to JPG and hit the change button.

Hola
This is a different topic but I think it may fit here. Do you know that if you open any picture that is sideways and needs to be rotated in Photoshop’s file browser, you need to rotate, then open, then close it , to keep the rotation, but in Windows XP you don’t?
In XP, you just rotate, and that’s it. You are done.
