I have a PhotoShop 7 user who when she clicks on a tool with the left mouse button it brings up the hidden tools rather then chooses the default tool. I know if you hold the mouse button down for a second it brings up the hiddens but a single click should choose it and not bring up the list like a "hold".

She said it just started happening in the last week – is there anything that triggers this and can it be stopped?

She can still work and it’s more of a nuisance but I can’t find anything in the forums or KB.

Thanks,

Has she made any changes in the Control Panel/Mouse settings? I was just looking at the mouse properties dialog for my microsoft optical mouse, and there’s something called "click lock" that sounds like it performs the behavior you’re describing.

That was the last thing I checked and it’s negative. I went into the mouse properties to see if ti was something like "single click to open items" but it’s not the mouse settings.

It has to be something within PS 7. I just opened her PS 6.01 that’s still on the PC and the mouse buttons work properly on the tools area.

Thanks,

Is the mouse having OK everywhere else?
Right-mouse would have this effect. The mouse isn’t set to left-handed is it?

No…the right mouse button does the same thing.

I’ll just uninstall and reinstall PS 7. I’ve already spent more time researching it and failing then it would take to remove/re-install it.

Thanks to all for your comments.

if deleting prefs didn’t change anything, I’m wondering if a reinstall will work…
