Hi All,

I am a Visual FoxPro Developer.

I have been asked to develop an application that will store engineering drawings in various formats and then print them on request.

The client has requested that we use Photoshop to do the printing of those drawing that are in formats that Photoshop can handle.

Variables that we will need to pass will include drawing size and default printer.

My question is …. Is there an API available from ADOBE (for free or to purchase) that we can call to interface with Photoshop so it can do the printing?

Thank You for your help?

There are hundreds of APIs for Photoshop, in addition to the scripting interface.

Start by reading the scripting documentation that comes with Photoshop CS (which is probably all you need).

If you need more, you should sign up as an Adobe developer and get the Photoshop SDK.

Thank You Chris …

Is there any charge for these or are they free?

The scripting interface is free – part of Photoshop CS. It’s rich and powerful. VB.NET is the best bet for a Windows developer. The alternatives are VB6, VBScript or JavaScript.

Getting the SDK does involve a fee to join the developer network.

….or you can look on the Photoshop 6.0 CD (or earlier version). Adobe included the SDK there. Most of it is perfectly valid for versions through CS.
