When I hold down Ctl>Alt>Shift while starting PS CS, I’m supposed to be asked if I want to delete the Preferences file. But I’m not asked the question.

1. Where can I find the preferences file so I can delete it manually?
2. The reason I want to do this is because the percentage in the lower left
corner of the PS window doesn’t work. I key in a percentage different from what is showing and that percentage shows – but hitting Enter does not implement that new percenatge, Instead, it freezes the file I’m working on.

On WinXP – do a search for "prefs" in c:\Documents and Settings

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application
Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS prefs.psp

Now wasn’t that easy? :^)

The exact location may differ from user to user so it’s best to just do a search for this file:

Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs.psp

Cheers…

Good advice, but note that it may be a ‘hidden’ file on some OS’s (like XP), so you may have to use the ‘advanced search options’ to turn on ‘search hidden files and folders’ on XP, for example.

I found the file manually and deleted it. However, after pressing Ctl>ASlt>Space, I am still not asked if I want to replace the preferences. However, I AM given the opportunity to change my scratch file location. The reason I want to reset the preferences is that the Percent in the lower left corner doesn’t work. I can type in a different percent than what is there – but nothing happens when I press Enter – it just freezes my open file so I can’t do anything with it.
