Hi all,
Hopefully a simple question…but here goes:
Hiw do I make 2 selections on the one image? Basically I want to make a circle within a circle and fill in the area between them with a colour. I tried making the first selection, then holding the shift key to make the second, but then i lose the first..I’d appreciate the solution please. Cheers,
Paul

First, make sure your Rulers are showing and Snap is enabled. (View > Rulers View > Snap >Snap to Guides).

Use your Elliptical Marquee tool and make a circle. Pressing your space bar while making it will let you move it around and better position the entire thing, should that be necessary. Holding SHFT will make it a perfect circle.

OK you now have a perfect circle exactly where you want it, right?

To make the next part easier, go to Select >Transform Selection. You did this so you could find the exact center of your first circle. Drag two guides (from the ruler), one vertical and one horizontal, and drop them on the center of the selection. Press ESC or Enter to exit the transformation.

You should now have a circle with two guides going through the center, one sideways and one up and down.

Zoom in a bit and place your cursor at the intersection of the guides, press ALT and begin to make a circle. ALT subtracts from the selection whereas SHFT adds to it. Keep your mousekey down and let off the ALT key for a second and then repress it. Press SHFT also and your selection will expand out from the center and be a perfect circle. Drag to where you want it and release. Fill the donut with color.

If you haven’t had a reply yet, all you do is make your first circle selection then ‘inverse’ in the ‘select’ menu hold down shift and make your next inner circle select inverse again then you can fill or paint the in-between section of your two circles..
hope that makes sense
