I have PS CS configured to "beep when done".

When I run a batch on 16-bit tif files it beeps on each file it opens, which is very annoying. When I running batch on 8-bit files, there’s no beep.

Is this a bug?

No. At least I do not think so. Go to Edit>Preferences and uncheck Beep When Complete (or similar verbage). That should take care of it. In the old days, when even a Gaussian Blur took 5 minutes on a big file, the Beep When Complete was an alarm to wake me up! Now, with faster processors, big loads of RAM, it sounds like I’m playing Doom. If that doesn’t take care of it, then, well it IS a bug.

I guess what I was thinking by "Beep When Done" is that it would beep when the whole batch is done. However, it beeps when the batch opens each 16-bit file to process, but it doesn’t beep on 8-bit files.

Ah, you’ve got me there. Since I haven’t used that little warning in years, I can’t help with "when" it should beep now, or why file Mode should cause any differences. Maybe a bug.
