Help needed.
Everytime that I make a displacement map from a channel and apply it I get this hard to read message in four languages,"This layered photoshop file was not saved with a composite image". I have a video tutorial and follow it exactly. Select the best channel, copy it, enhance it with levels, blur it, copy it to the clipboard, open a new file(all the same settings as the image I’m working with), paste it, save it, close it and then apply it to the selected layer. When it is applied the message appears. I have tried making maps with several different images and get the same result. The only difference I can see is that the tutorial is done with PS7 and I am using CS. Has anyone else had this problem and over came it? I’m baffled.

Make sure the layer you paste is a "Background Layer". If it isn’t, choose Flatten from the pop-up menu at the top of the Layer Palette. Or Choose Layer Menu>New>Background From Layer.
