Save for web color problem

Am new to the group but have some Photoshop knowledge.
Using PS7 . . . when using "save for web" I get color difrerences in the preview mode before saving. Sometimes the image is darker in the browser (IE or Firebird), sometimes the color balance seems to be more red. I’ve tried to change color setting profiles but none seem to match the exact color the way it looks in Photoshop.
Have also gone throught the monitor calibration.

Do the "Web safe" colors show the same discrepancy?

what color mode are you creating the images in? I believe it needs to be sRGB to match what you will see on the web…
