Whenever I crop an image in Photshop, it zooms the image out to a really small size and i then have to resize the window accordingly, which is terribly tiresome.
Is there a shortcut I am missing to correct this problem, or is that the way that Pshop is??
I can’t even seem to make an action to re-zoom the window after cropping… help is appreciated,

thanks

I’m not sure what you mean, but during edit processes you can still zoom in and out with Ctrl+ + and -, or use Ctrl+ Spacebar to select the zoom tool for zoom in and Alt+Spacebar to zoom out.

If by ‘resize window’ you mean the canvas, you can hit Ctrl+0 to go to ‘Fit to screen’

PS Here’s another excellent shortcut in PS: F1

I believe zooming activity is not recorded into an action. Fiona

If I read the problem correctly, you should be able to check "Zoom Resizes Window," so that a Zoom increases the window, along with the magnification of the image in it. If you want this as the default, Edit>Preferences>General is the place to do it, otherwise, using the Magnifying Tool, you can check, or uncheck that box in the Options Toolbar. With it checked in Preferences, then keyboard zooms should resize.

I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic, I am/was dead serious. F1 is a very much unused shortcut by many people. It’s first to Usenet, then F1. And since the answers Hunt gives you are findable with F1, I don’t think you have get this (and I quote) "ratty". I was merely trying to answer your (not so clear) question. I’m sorry that i didn’t immediately see your PS skills, and that I offended your PS guruness by showing you the way to the Helpfile, because that’s for n00bies, right?

I’ll be more than happy to keep my useless and arrogant remarks for other people.

Ctrl-0 will do what you want I think. But are you changing the resolution too? If you don’t want to make sure the resolution field is blank in the Options Bar before using the Crop tool or you may be ruining your images.

I think this is the ‘nub’ of the problem
I am choosing to crop and reduce the resolution at the same time. Thus, Pshop ‘zooms out’ of the image and takes it down to 25% or 33%… I know there are shortcuts to get the image to fill its window and such, i just wondered if there was a way to actually prevent Pshop from zooming out in the first place…
It’s a minor thing, but an irritation none the less

thanks anyway for all advice [even yours Vinc3nt!]

Does it still do that if you use the Rectangular Marquee tool to crop instead of the Crop tool…make the selection and go to Image > Crop?

Peadge 🙂

No, as you cannot specify a change in the document resolution this way. thanks for the suggestion though….

If you look at the viewed size percentage before and after you crop, I bet it is the same.
