I have a Windows XP box with 3 gig memory. I know PS CS can only use 2 gigs of ram, but when I go into PS CS memory, the slider can only go to 1.77 gig. Why can’t I address the full 2 gig?

It’s a limitation of the OS. 2 Gb max per application.

It can’t address the full 2 Gig because of address space fragmentation, the space taken up by the application binary, space taken up by the OS, etc.
