I have multiposting, but couldn’t get an answer on the previous NG I asked this question, so here goes:

AFAICT Photoshop’s default printing scheme is to print images centered on the media. For, say, 8×10 images on 8.5×11 paper, this required cutting 4 margins off to get the print. I know that I can set the margins on an image-by-image basis by using Print-With-Preview, but I can’t find anywhere to make a permanent change in CS2.

In most if not all cases, Photoshop and other aps have to obey the rule (setting) of the printer, and the printer should give you all the options to set to whatever you want.

Or you can set printer to print border-to-border, envelope, 4×6" etc.. that Photoshop and other aps can’t break the printer setting. So instead of trying to force Photoshop to do what it isn’t capable of, you may want to look at what you can do with your printer instead. And don’t forget that the setting will effect all other aps.

so far how to make that the default I think under printers and faxes look at MARGINS
but since I don’t do all prints this way I don’t do that or try it

I use print with preview
then untick box center image
then in the distance boxes
if you have a bleed printer set the numbers to both margins .0125

I have to set it each time though for each image
it saves cutting two sides
and gives you good paper for small prints or test strips often I do 8×12 on 11×17 paper and need to trim for bleed
