I am having problems accessing the raw image processing screen in PS CS. Manual says it pops up — but not for me. Have the plug-in. Any suggestions deeply appreciated. Don D.

Can you provide more details? What type of camera/raw file?

With my Canon 10d .crw file, I double click on it and the Raw Processing screen pops up.

Apologies. Nikon 5700 files. Embedded profile mismatch screen comes up, but no raw processing screen. Had one once, but no more. Suppose I could have some setting mis-set. Tnx Don

With the NEF files on the 5700, you should have no problem opening with CS. I’d be suspicious of the plug-in and maybe a conflict of an older v newer one. Go to Adobe’s site and get the latest RAW plug-in. Follow the installation routine to the letter. So far, I’ve had no problem with any/all CS RAW plug- ins and have updated as newer ones became available.

In CS, File>Open, then select the desired file. You should get the RAW converter window immediately.

A little caveat: don’t forget to look at all three tabs in the converter window, as Sharpening is set to about 25 (IIRC), and you will want to bring the image in at Sharpening 0, if you will be doing Sharpening as the last step in the image.

Good luck,
Hunt

Don:

Had you previously installed other software (e.g., from Canon) that also handles raw files? I had the problem of a conflict between applications (i.e., overriding the Photoshop CS raw image processing). My suggestion is to uninstall the other apps (or possibly remove/relocate associated plug-ins for handling raw files) and thus enable Photoshop CS to do it’s thing.

Worked for me.

Deepest thanks. Your suggestion sounds plausible. I’ll scurry back to the propgram and give it a try.
