I have a gif image with a white backgound. I’d like to make the white transparent so that I can show the graphic on my webpage. Failing that, can I reassign the background color to the same color as my webpage? The "Replace Color" function, like everything else in PhotoShop, is unintuitive and meaningless drivel to me!

Making a transparent background?!? Takes about 3 seconds if have an IQ above Idiot Savant.

Can I change the white background to match my background colour?!?!? YES YOU F*CKING DUMMY, my dog can do it with 2 clicks!

Simon. your just another idiot that doesn’t take the time to learn the tools and then shits on them for being too hard. Photoshop rocks, your just too dumb to figure it out. Go back to MS Paint loser….

And odds are 1,000,000 to 1 that Simon has a pirated copy of Photoshop.

Use your Magic Wand Tool to select the white background and press delete. You may need to deselect "Contiguous" in the Options Bar at the top of your screen. To select noncontiguous parts of the background, hold SHFT to add to your selection. If you want to change the color to the background color of your web page, fill the selection with that color. If you still prefer the transparency, in your Save for Web options, select "Matte Color" and use the color of your background. This will add pixels around your image to make it blend better on your page.
