Yeah, I’m a noob at this. In JASC’s PSP adding a pic or image to your design is pretty simple. I can’t for the life of me figure it out with PS7 though. I didn’t get a booklet with the program, and the tutorials aren’t helping much. Can anybody help?

Seth, there’s always the online help but you should have got a manual. Where did you get the program?

From an online store. They just sent me the disk. It was in an Adobe package, but yeah, the manual would save all of us a lot of time…

The manual does save us all a lot of time because it is included in legitimate Photoshop purchases.

Seth,

I am not sure that I understand what you are wanting to do. If you just want to add a picture or image to an existing canvas you can copy and paste it or open it up and drag it to the canvas you want.

I hope this helps and is what you were looking for. Adobe does not allow for inserting graphics. Adobe doesn’t allow for a lot of little things that you take for granted in other software packages.

Anyway, If you have a few images already open, "Ctrl>O" (Keyboard Shortcut)and you want to put another image into or onto, make sure the image you want to use is highlighted blue. Hold down Ctrl and with your mouse, drag that image onto the image you want it on top of. This is called layering or layers. Pressing F7 will bring up the layers pallette and you can see what’s happening. Seth, I’m sorry but this process, while being at PS’s fundementals and stumps a few people, it’s basic and also too detailed to approach using a forum.

You really DO need to at least read some basics in the online help manual and try a few things then get back to us.

Thanks Allen. I’ll see what I can do. Everybody always told me I was stupid for using PSP8, but it does everything I need. My experience with PS is that it is very powerful, but very limited in certain areas. One would think that after spending $700 on a program it would do things like insert graphics. Of course, I feel better knowing this after I decided not to spend $1300 on Creative Suite CS pro…
And to Mr. Nelson, my friend bought PSCS from Adobe and didn’t get a booklet either. Just because you only receive the software doesn’t mean it’s illegitimate….

Thanks Mark, this helps. I think I can get it with some practice.

In all fairness, the manual is not included with purchases of the full Creative Suite. PDF versions are included with all the programs, whether stand alone or suite.

Whatever…

Did your friend find the PDF manuals on the CD?

Edit: Robert, he’s using PS7.

Strange, I received hard copy manuals with both my PS 7.0 and the CS upgrade.

You do get manuals when you buy the individual product. I think it’s just when you buy the CS Suite you don’t get manuals unless you order and pay for them seperately.

You don’t get hard copy manuals with the PSCS upgrade alone if you buy the downloadable version online from Adobe (at least you didn’t back last November when I bought it).

Base note is about version 7.0. Thread poster SHOULD have gotten a hard copy of the manual. Both my latest purchases came from either the adobe store or another store. Down loading an expensive update is not the best, get a CD instead.
