Crop & Straighten not available

The File > Automate > Crop and Straighten menu entry is gray’d out. I have used this with CS2, but not sure I’ve tried with CS3 until now.

The scanner is working fine from within Photoshop.

Why is this happening?

Is the image 16-bit?

What image? I’m just trying to scan multiple objects at one time and have PS break the scan apart into seperate images. But I never get to the scanning stage.

Scan first, then batch the crop and straighten routine.
