I see photos that people have taken and the border looks like faded around the sides and looks really elegant. How do I do that with my photos. I would attach a photo to show but their is no way to do so. Any suggestions!

There are several ways to do this; one that you might try is using a mask so that you don’t modify the actual picture. First double click on the background layer; this will turn it into a "floating" layer. Now add a mask by clicking on the mask icon in the Layers pallete. Pick the rectangular Marquee tool and set the feather to desired setting (bigger setting = more gradual fade) and draw it to enclose the portion of the pic you want to show. Now press Ctrl+I to invert the selection and use the paint bucket to fill the selection area. You should now see the edges faded out. If you want, you can add a layer beneath the current one and fill it with white so that you don’t see the transparency grid.

The beauty of this method (as opposed to just using an eraser with a large radius) is that you can always go back and tweak the mask to make the border bigger, smaller, more faded, whatever.
