Can anybody suggest why my PS just won’t open today. It has been working perfectly but when I started up my system today, it goes about three quarters of the opening process and then just goes off the screen. It’s a new one to me and I tried rebooting but the same happens again, thanks

I watched it carefully just now and it gets as far as "loading brushes" and then disappears!

From your later description, it sounds like a corrupted brush. Deleting your preferences file might fix it, if not you may need to toss the brushes themselves.

Remember this will also get rid of any of your personal settings. Hopefully this won’t be too annoying.

I’m prepared to do what it takes ‘cos I have some photos I need to work on urgently. If your suggestion is correct, how do I delete my preferences file as I can’t see it anywhere?

The actual file is in your user folder, not the PS folder.

Now once you get your preferences the way you like them, back those files up somewhere!

Cool.

You might run down that prefs file and back it up, just in case it happens again.

Then again, if you don’t tinker with your prefs, it may not be worth your time.

Probably closed because of the New Year’s Holiday….since it fell on a Saturday, LOTS of things are closed on the 3rd to celebrate the New Year?
