I can make 3D extrusions in cheesey word processing programs, so why isn’t it included in Photoshop 7.0 or CS?

Have you tried doing this? I can’t see where anyone would ever use it.

I want the letter to look like they are cut from wood or stone or plastic and being viewed from an angle. Not be filled with little pyramids or blocks.

The closest I have seen to what I want is to make several layers 1 pixel thick until you have a solid looking form, This is fine if you want the extrusion to be perfectly horizontal or vertical. But what if I want it to be at 39.2 degrees?

I’ve never used it. It looks really cheesy. :-\
Maybe you want to do something like this (bottom example):

I made this for someone wanting to know how to make 3-D text.

Yeah, I probably will. You would think a program as cutting edge as Photoshop would have this built in.

Place both hands straight out, elbows to your side, palms up and repeat after me……."Oh, well!"

Because it’s a 2D image processing program?

What she said.
It is not a type setting application, either.
Illustrator or Stratus would probably work OK.

Ok, let me explain what I am trying to do. I want to make an image that looks like the "Conversation Heart Candies" that are popular around Valentines Day. I know Illustrator is probably a better program for doing this but I do not have access to that program.

I can make heart shapes and bevel them to look a like chocolate hearts, but I want to get that hard edge thick look.

Is there a way of doing this in Photoshop?

Thanks.
