Doing as many tutorials as I can and learning a lot (PS 7.0). What I need to do is when using a photo in a poster with a gradient color background, I want the lower edge of the photo to fade out into the color keeping the rest of the photo intact. Got it? Until I can find a procedure in the tutorials, anyone have a tip or pointer they can share for the effect?

TIA

Put the color with as many gradients as you want on a lower layer than the photo
Activate the photo layer and activate quick mask mode. Do a gradient over the parts you want to fade. Go back into normal mode and hit delete. You will have the top layer photo fading into the lower level gradient "Rivergoat" wrote in message

Never erase when a mask will do!

I’m not too sure on the steps required..
Could you explain a little more about the step "go back into normal mode and hit delete"
when I do this there is just a rectangular marquee around the photo and nothing is transparent
or get deleted

much help would be appreciated.
