you need to become a memebr of the adobe solutions network and get the sdk.

Or you can just get the SDK: look on a Photoshop 6 or earlier CD. (Yes, it does work with CS.)

If you’re also looking for a suitable development system: I use, and highly recommend, Apple’s freely downloadable MPW <http://developer.apple.com/tools/mpw-tools/> for Mac plugins, and mingw <http://www.mingw.org/> for Windows (which is GNU-based – like Xcode). Complete example projects (and many free plugins) can be found on my web site <http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/>. If you have a decent budget for programming tools, CodeWarrior <http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Develop/CodeWarrior.htm> is a nice IDE although not entirely superior to these other options.

There’s no need to deal with ASN. Just get the SDK from a Photoshop CD.

FilterMeister is Windows only, but plugins built with the SDK can run on all platforms.

The PS6 one (and earlier SDKs too) can make plugins for PS7 and CS.

of course, but he won’t have access to the documentation for the newer features. i suggested, as an asn member, he get the latest version for his development efforts.

Yes, you’re quite right, but most of those features (can’t bring any to mind…umm maybe healing brush, gee whiz) don’t impact most plugins, however.

And if ASN is not delivering what he needs – then I say, just cut out the middleman and grab an SDK elsewhere. Then you have a fighting chance of delivering a product which enhances the Photoshop platform.
