I think we have seen this question many times before.
If you are a photographer and need to do colour matching and the sort of things photographers do, a CRT is still probably the best bet unless you are going to spend a fortune on a flatscreen.
If you are a graphic or web designer you may prefer to use a flat screen
I tend to use both on my general computer I have a flat screen for general graphics and computer type stuff, it’s really good, especially for reading text, but I also have a second CRT monitor for photoshop, and editing pictures.
for serious PS work I have a machine which sits in a dark room with two 21" SGI CRT monitors, but I do have to escape to day light every couple of hours.

the opinions will no doubt rage here, but for myself, I will never go back to a crt.
most of my design is web based, not print, so a bit less critical but man my eyes could not take a return to
10 hour days with a ray tube. love the lcds…
get a good bright one and I think you will too.
(google for reviews and specs and what they mean)

I need to buy a new computer monitor. I have been looking at the older CRT and the newer LCD types. Which is better for graphics work ? I need a monitor that is accurate for graphics work, and can display a graphics image just as it was rendered. Any recommendations ?
