My aging Vivitron monitor has served me well for many years but I would like to replace it with an LCD display. Sam’s club has a nice looking Samsung 913V. Does this monitor have what it takes to make subtle picture adjustments in Photoshop?

I already have and there was no information. That is why I decided to post here.

I don’t know the Samsung monitor, but I know I spent months trying to get good color correspondance between my NEC MultiSync LCD and my prints… and I ended up buying an Eizo FlexScan LCD… and my problem was solved in nothing flat…

You’re much better of with a CRT for serious photoshop work, LCDs are not easy to calibrate.

Check out the line of Hansol monitors – they have remarkable viewing angle fidelity, much more accurate for graphics work.
I own a Samsung 172, and it suffers from vertical p.o.v. contrast change. No sign of that on the Hansol though.

No. If you want an LCD screen for that, you need to buy something like an Eizo, one of the very few monitor makes with proper colour fidelity. Of course, you will have to pay the price for it.

Otherwise, get a nice big CRT.
