all my text is italic??!!

Here’s a weird problem: all of a sudden, my text is all coming out italic by default – even fonts that don’t have an italic choice included!

Just to double check – I opened a new document and used an Arial font – making sure I chose "regular", and lo and behold it was italic. When I DID chose the italic font – it just got MORE italicized…

What the hell…?

been here done this… drove me nuts.
there is a little black triangle at the top of the text pallette… turn off the "faux italic" setting

There are also icons across the bottom of the Character Palette that can be clicked on and off. One thing I’ve discovered is that you can’t convert type to a vector shape if these "faux" effects are in use. So beware!
