Creating a new, blank document–even a small one–takes a very long time on my otherwise speedy system. When first opening PS, it can take 15-20 seconds. After PS has run for a while it is faster, but still takes 10 seconds. I notice it took some time in CS2 compared to earlier versions, but thing seem to be going downhill… Does anyone else see this?

Nope.

Alas, we can’t help you. You didn’t tell us anything about your computer. What kind of computer do you have? How much RAM? How much hard drive space?

Ok. Machine is XP Pro on a 2.4GHz dual-core Intel system; 3GB RAM; 1TB disk on two drives – PS temp space on a separate physical volume from the system and paging volumes. I have a separate profile for PS work that reduces other tasks to the minimum I could come up with.

Usually, long delays creating a new document indicate a lack of RAM; this is unlikely to be the case with your system. Perhaps you have a default working profile that is corrupt or damaged?

That’s a good suggestion. I’ve avoided erasing it so far because of the hassle, but I’ll try it – it is the profile I set up for CS2. The fact that the CS2 profile works with CS3 may be masking a side-effect of using it…

Thanks.
