I have a user with a Windows 2000: Dell Dual P3 800Mhz, 256Mb RAM, over 10Gb hard disk space, nVidia Quadro2 Pro video – printing to an Epson Stylus Photo 1270.

After several prints, Photoshop no longer sends printing information. It shows "printing…" but no items appear in the print queue. All other graphics applications can print fine; the only way to resolve the issue is to reboot.

I have searched Epson, Adobe, and other online sources while trying any methods I could find (such as disabling advanced printing features, reinstalling the drivers, etc.) but I cannot seem to shake the problem. I was curious if anybody had any suggestions before I remove/reinstall Photoshop.

I’d be more inclined to remove the printer as a device, then download the latest drivers, etc and re-install the printer. It’s more likely that Windows is a little confused <G> .

Are you waiting until PS finishes creating the spool file? When that operation is done, the status monitor should show up, and there should be an entry in the print queue.

I may be missing some details here, but I vaguely recall having problems with my Epson 1270 under Win2K that research of similar problems tracked down to two things: 1) the USB connection should be to a motherboard port rather than a hub, and 2) I think it was one of the Advanced Settings in the printer driver that needed to be disabled, perhaps the bi-directional option. There were only two or three advanced settings, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to track down if any of those affect your problem being resolved.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the 1270 is networked and that it was once connected to the PC in question. I tried thumbing through the settings when it was hooked up (parallel) directly some time back with no success. I had the time to reinstall Photoshop earlier today and so far so good.
