Suppose I have an image composed of, say, six layers. The normal histogram window only shows the result for the composite image. Is there any (easy) way to see a histogram of a single layer?

Option/Alt-click on the layer-eye to just show that layer.

Okay, that sort-of does it, but it’s not the same histogram as if the layer were the only image. I get a histogram that’s the same shape as if it was, but the levels are so far down that it’s almost useless.

The expanded view of the histogram windows has a drop-down option of either the entire image or the selected layer.

Use the Levels command. You’ll see the histogram for only the current layer (if nothing is selected) or only the selected porion of the current layer (if you have a selection).

PERFECT! That’s exactly what I needed.

Thanks
