I got the message Monitor profile "NEC LCD1765 @6500K" appears to be defective. Please run your callibration software.

I get the following message when trying to run Adobe Gamma…

An Exception ocured while attempting to run "shell32.dll, control_Rundll C:\program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma.cpl" Adobe Gamma.

Has anyone had experience with this type of problem. I tried reloading software no help…

That sounds like something is corrupt: possibly the video card driver, possibly Adobe Gamma, and possibly the whole OS.

What video card are you using?

Have you tried updating the video card driver?

I get the same exact error message and I have an LCD1765 as well. I called NEC and they told me it’s Adobe’s problems with not accepting LCD using ICC. I called Adobe and they said it’s NEC’s problem with the their driver and would not look into it any further until I paid $40 for this incident. SO much for buying a license and getting decent support.

No, Photoshop will accept any valid ICC profile – the message occurs becaue the profile is NOT valid.

Please contact NEC and ask them to supply a valid profile. (and you did get correct support from Adobe)

None of Samsung’s profiles have EVER worked, for example. Although I like their monitors (and TV’s).

I’ve narrowed down the problem to the ICM profile. I used ICC profile inspector (google it and download the app) and sent a screenshot to NEC Mitsubishi []. Two things I noticed that were invalid were the date and the vcgt parameter which is Mac specific and not a valid ICM specification.
I also tested this profile using another CM supported application (PWP) and the profile did not work either. I asked NEC tech support to tell me which CM application their profile actually worked and I’m waiting for their response.
I’m almost ready to give this up and simply create my own ICC profile but I’m so infuriated with NEC for not even looking into this issue.

So please send a note to your NEC technical support and asked to to look into this problem. Please post any developments and I will do the same when I hear back from them.

Did you ever solve this problem? I am encountering the exact same error message (I, too, have a NEC LCD 1765 monitor) when I tried to run Adobe Gamma. Any advice?
