I just upgraded to CS suite premium and I am totally confused about PDF creation from Photoshop. In PS7 I would print a layered file to Distiller and create a PDF that way. I no longer have Distiller as an option, so I used the save as PDF option. This was really unsatisfactory because the file is about 10 times what it was when I could print to Distiller.

Also, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to define a custom page size for printing when you select PDF as the printer. It seems to have an option for this, but whenever I try, it just won’t do it!

What is the best way to create a pdf in CS?

We often create posters for display booths and we create them half-scale in Photoshop, then create a 200% PDF for printing because our plotter prints much faster from the PDF. I can’t figure out now how I could create a PDF at 200% without doing it to the actual file first! help!

Thank you,

Courtney

Courtney,

Print>AdobePDF>Properties>Layout>Advanced.

You can set scaling there

Thanks Len,

It’s confusing having two places to specify page size. You can select postscript custom page size in the advanced options and set scaling, but the Adobe PDF tab still shows a pdf page size output that is not what you want. I guess the advanced tab overrides the other tab? That seems like a frustrating addition to PDF features…
