Load path as selection – inverse? Why?

For some reason whenever I make a closed path and try to make a selection from it (ie: by using the ‘load path as a selection’ button in the paths palette) it loads an INVERSE selection.

This is really annoying because I have to then go Select > Inverse every single time.

It is also doing the same thing if I select ‘fill path with foreground colour’ – it fills the entire rest of the screen, not the area inside the path.

It never used to do this and I haven’t changed anything… what’s up? Anyone?

Petra,

I have moved your (duplicate) Topic to join this one. Please do not post more than one topic for one problem. It makes it harder for everyone to find any relevant replies and also upsets the natives.

Have you tried deleting your preference file? Deetails in the FAQ at top of this forum’s Topic List

Petra,

if you Select All / Select Path / Work Path
then you can choose Add or Subtract. Additionally Inverse. The reason for the unexpected behaviour might be the
different setting Add or Subtract.

This means: A selected circle in a selected image is filled in mode Add (fast test, hopefully correct).

Hi Petra,

Had this very thing happen yesterday – I reset the preferences and it all went back to normal. See the FAQ for how to…

Good Luck,

David
