What is the best way to make web banners small in size. I’m trying to get an animated banner down to under 50k. What can I do. Thanks.

Is this a second thread of the same name?

The way to get your file size down is to limit the number of colors. If you want to create an animated banner, remember that it’s the combines sizes of each frame that add up to the size of the animation.

Create your images using large areas of solid colors and text and combine them as layers. Then specify which frame order the animation is to run in ImageReady.

Ways to minimize animated gifs:

a) small physical size, particularly of the animated region

b) low color count/solid colors (as Larry said)

c) minimal number of steps (many good animations only use two or three layers)

d) don’t do it … animations are annoying and passe.
