I use adjustment layers for just about everything. When I’m working with 8 bit files I can see the file size savings easily on the bottom left of the screen where there will be something like "16Mb/21Mb" with one adjustment layer set to multiply for example. However, when working in 16 bits each adjustment layer seems to add the full amount of the original file size so that using the same example above I would see "35MB/70MB" instead of the "35MB/50MB" I would expect. A couple of questions:
1. Is there something different about 16bit adjustment layers that negate the size advantage of using them (as opposed to just duping the background and multiplying that?)
2. Is there another way to check the current file size other than the bottom left display on the status bar? I’m thinking that perhaps the size is being reported incorrectly.
Thanks in advance.
