Recently on our HelpDesk, we (the Technology Department) came across the Graphics Teacher and one of her problems using Photoshop CS in her classroom. When she attempted to navigate through her personal folders in PS, it would take a good 30-45 seconds to open the folder. We thought it might be too many files in her folders for it to recognize them all at one time, but it seems unlikely, since there was not that many. We came back into the office, tried opening one of our picture heavy photo folders into PS and it opened nearly instantly. The two computers we ran them on are fairly similar in specifications, so slow computer speed is not the issue. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

What version of Photoshop?

What platform?

What OS version?

They could be hitting delays as the OS tries to create thumbnail images for the image files. Also, Windows XP does have some known bugs when it encounters corrupt image files, and certain uncommon image formats.
